We have all seen them at conventions. Fundraisers for artist, furs who have fallen ill, you name it. However, how do you know if they are legit? Do you even really know the person’s real name?

Be sure to know whom you are donating to. Quiz the person before you hand over the cash.

If you are confused where donations for convention fundraisers are being taken, ask a staff member. This will usually be in one designated place and the person will be staff.

When getting something from an artist are vendor make sure you get a proof of purchase at all times.

Lastly, if someone is attempting to get people to give him or her money on behalf of someone else, it is always better to donate money yourself and eliminate the “middle man”.
